Talk about an injustice to a piece of antique furniture!!!!  This lovely chest of drawers was made in Ontario Canada by the Middlesex Furniture company..it was made to be a lingerie chest according to all the stamps on the inside.  It is so very solid with dovetailed drawers…I love her!  My little girl plays softball in the spring and one of the moms on the team found out that I  like to redo furniture and asked if I’d be interested in an old dresser she had….WOULD I????  Who even needs to ask?????  She told me it was really ugly and that if I didn’t like it that I could just toss it.  Well…When I stopped by to pick it up and saw what it was, my heart skipped about 100 beats…. It was just the type of thing I had been looking for for such a long time!!!  Around here to find something with this type of design and shape was a rarity!!!  I was sooooo excited to take her home!!!  She was heavy..really heavy!  I made one of my girls help me unload her as my husband was away…Usually if I need someone to help me when he isn’t around I rely on my second oldest daughter cuz she’s super tough!  She’s also super beautiful…but looks can be deceiving…she is so outgoing, fun and VERY athletic…A few examples for you!…

Anyhoo…. Back to the chest of drawers…

I brought her in and decided that I would strip her of the purpleness… Give her a coat or 2 of milk paint in Typewriter and a little white wax to finish her off.  WOW!  Does she ever look nice now!!!!I had a difficult time finding just the right hardware for her ….but…once again my favourite little antique store in a nearby small town had just the hardware I was looking for…

These small antique porcelain knobs were perfect!  I love how the larger ones on the big drawers are all chippy looking.  

For now this chest of drawers has found a home in my eldest daughter’s room.  I’m not sure yet if that is where it’s “forever” home will be or if I will sell it…we’ll see… I can’t keep everything I bring home…

Hope you are having a warm weekend wherever you are…We are having -34C here with a wind chill of -45C!!!!  The roads are horrid with lots of black ice everywhere!  Winter is definitely here!!!
