A New Look In Red…Frenchie’s New Dress!
14July 10, 2014 by Terry
A few weeks ago I had completed a project to take to my booth at The Old Creamery and completely forgot to take any sort of pictures.
Yesterday I finally took some! To start with this little 9 drawer french style little cutie was white with gold accents, she had PLASTIC moldings on the drawer fronts…poor her, she didn’t even get real wood…she deserves better than cheap plastic for sure! :0)
Here is a before shot of what she looked like…not too bad but very dated…
Sorry for the poor quality pics…I don’t plan ahead very well sometimes.
Note the plastic moldings on the fronts…for me this gave her a low quality cheap feel…
I removed all the moldings and hardware. Filled in the holes with wood filler, sanded it smooth and then sprayed her with 3 light coats of Colonial Red in High Gloss to jazz her up a bit. Then I replaced the old hardware with these beautiful cast iron cup pulls…I love that you can label each drawer with what is in it!
I love the new look! She could be used for almost anything! If she doesn’t sell soon I will probably bring it home and use it as a media center in the kid’s T.V. room, it would be perfect to hold DVDs and XBOX games etc…place the T.V. on top! Plus it would give the room a pop of color.
I also envisioned someone buying her and converting her into a bathroom vanity…place a couple of vessel sinks on top…so classy! Lots of bathroom storage too!
I know red isn’t for everyone but I’ve always wanted to try a red piece and she seemed like a classy candidate!
What are your thoughts? Classy or trashy?
Hope you’re able to enjoy this hot weather! Have a great week!
Smiles!

I love the way this turned out! I would have never thought that ugly dresser could ever look this good. You have taught me to REALLY look beyond all and transform into something completely different.

If you can see past the ugly and appreciate the “bones” that’s when you can have a lot of fun! Thank you for the visit and the nice compliment!
