I was on my way home from work last week when I decided to stop at a thrift shop that I hadn’t been to for quite some time. It isn’t my favorite place to go as it is rather smelly and unclean in there making it difficult to stay and browse. To my surprise, things had changed quite a bit…it no longer had that “take your breath away” waft of dirty air when you walked through the front door…and…it appeared more organized than I remembered!!!
Well! Now I was going to be able to enjoy the “browse”. Long story short, this is what I came home with…
So now we’re getting to the good part…the painting! I decided to do something I hadn’t done since discovering Milk paint and Chalk paint…I decided to use latex paint for this one. I wanted to try the Marquee paint by Behr to see how the whole “one coat guarantee” measured up. I bought just the sample sized jars of it in Siberian Blue and the other in just a flat white. I started with the white on the inside of the cabinet and finished the outside with the Blue.
I did get my one coat finish with a few touch ups where I had left some brushstrokes…a roller probably would have been a better choice for this but I like the shabby look it gave the cabinet. I finished the inside with Miss Mustard Seed’s dark antiquing wax to give it a used and aged look. The blue is so subtle that it’s difficult to see in the pictures.
Because I used flat paint the dark wax took nicely to it. I really like the way it turned out…
You Can barely tell she’s blue in these pictures but she is…kind of a romantic hue of blue…I had troubles styling her for the after pictures, nothing seemed to portray the look / feel I was going for but here’s a look anyways…
Thank you for the visit!
