A Pair Of Vintage French Carved Salon Chairs

32

June 30, 2015 by Terry

11I acquired 2 of these lovely chairs off of a local classified add site for an amazing price!!!

This is how it looked before:IMG_6810So there was really nothing wrong with the upholstery … it didn’t smell, wasn’t dirty and it wasn’t faded in any area of the fabric … even the underside of the cushion is consistent in color.

The only problem with it was that it was the wrong color and material.  I’m really not a pink person when it comes to furniture and I don’t really care for velvet.   Pretty as it was … it just didn’t go with my decor.  It needed to be a little less feminine.

I took it apart and re upholstered it to suit my own tastes.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a down filled cushion :0)

i have a chair very similar that I want to recover just like yours! I am a beginner though so I’m nervous to start. Do you have a tutorial?

    • Hi Shona! Unfortunately I have been a bit of a lazy blogger lately and I didn’t take pictures of the whole process during this one. I do have it’s twin to do yet so maybe I will make that one as a tutorial :0) ! Hopefully you can wait until then, if not you can also visit Miss Mustard Seed’s blog and she has some upholstering tutorials there. I tend to just take my furniture apart now and just “wing” it. I’ll share that process with you soon.
Thank you for the visit and the request :0)

  4. Totally doesn’t suit my house and I don’t have room either, but I WANT THEM SO BADLY. Gorgeous. Really consider coming to help me reupholster my front patio SIT chair and we can both post about it. Tempting, no? (the pics are stunning too. Nice work!)

Terry, your chair is gorgeous! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! The wood, the grain sack, the down filled cushion, truly amazing, and you did a great job. I’ve been looking for a pair of french chairs for years, but they’re pretty hard to come by at a decent price in Alaska. So, I’ll keep drooling over yours. Can’t wait to see the finished set!
