I don’t have any “before” pictures of this little settee but I wish I did. Upon first glance it really seemed like it was in great shape. Looking closer though it was in need of a few repairs and the powder blue velvet upholstery was dirty.
I deconstructed the whole settee right down to her bare bones, made the necessary repairs and gave it 2 coats of MMS Milk Paint in the color Typewriter. I added bonding agent as I didn’t want possible chipping of the paint.
I decided to leave the caning it’s original color for contrast and only painted the legs and frame black. Once dry, I finished it with a coat of hemp oil for a hint of lustre and to seal it.
It’s a rather petite settee and would actually be perfect for the end of a bed. It’s not bulky or heavy in any sense. It would be easy to create a reading nook in any room with this small piece … or just a place to relax and unwind …
It is even small enough to place in an entryway … so many options for this little beauty.
