Antique Filing Card Bins
5October 6, 2015 by Terry
I spent the entire day inside the house yesterday as it was long overdue for an intense cleaning! While the house is always rather tidy, ( as tidy as it can be for 7 people and 2 pets living in one place) it did need a good cleaning. Clean is different from tidy and cleaning is what it needed!
So because I never made it out to the garage yesterday I thought I would share one of my latest finds with you.
I found these really neat little filing card bins while out on a spur of the moment road trip last week! They were so cute and so rusty, I couldn’t leave them behind!
I cleaned them up using my mouse sander and added the numbers to them. The green numbers were already on them but I thought they looked a little bare on their own so I added the white numbers using some left over milk paint. I sanded the edges a little to “age” them.
I think that they’re so cute! I don’t know what I would put in them but I think they are visually nice … but then again I’m addicted to rusty old stuff!
I think they would be cute on a bookshelf or on a mantle etc…
I used them as props for my photoshoot of the chair I upholstered (Click to see that post here) but they would make for interesting decor in any room really.
I had purchased 9 of them in total. I kept 3 for myself and took 6 of them (the ones in these photos) to my booth to share with you!
I hope to be in the garage again tomorrow!
Have a great day!
Smiles!
