Welcome Friends!  Make sure you check out the end of this post for a serious note!

I hope that this week has been good to you so far!  While it has been a bit of a busy week, it has been a very good week.  For all that is going on here, things are running relatively smoothly and I am slowly checking things off my “To Do” list.  I have had some amazing finds this week and Mother’s day was incredible!  My family shocked me by giving me a pair of beautiful antique church windows!  I plan to share those with you this coming week for sure!

Making over furniture and photographing the pieces are my thing …. writing … not so much as you can probably tell.  I am very sorry about that by the way … Maybe if I invested in a dragon dictating program things would be much better, I’m a bit of a lazy blogger when it comes to the writing part ;)  Things are about to change though as I am making a public promise to put down the paintbrush for an afternoon or two and rock out some great makeover posts!

Now… Making Broken Beautiful was full of so many great projects and ideas last week that I actually felt like I had a little lump in the back of my throat, you know the kind that comes from emotion … You all make me so happy when you share here and I know I say it often but I really do get excited about what you bring to this party.  So, THANK YOU!

Last week Shirley from Beachwood Place shared this pretty dresser with a beachy feel.  You will never guess how she got this colour.  I guess in a way it is a Miss Mustard Seed colour hack? … ha!  It’s a brilliant idea if you like the milk paint colour but need to have more of a chalky finish!  I love your way of thinking on this and I love how it turned out!

(P.S. I am still am huge milk paint fan though :) …)

This beautiful little chair by Debra over at Shoppe No. 5 caught my eye too!  It really is a “trash to treasure” story of how this chair came to her.  I love the layered paint patina and the new upholstery.  Well done bringing this back to beautiful!

Mitchs-Chair-After-edit

“Perfectly imperfect Patti”  (I love how she describes herself!) from Old Things New shared this gorgeous cabinet!  With it’s soft muted colours and elegant details, this piece is crazy pretty!  She saw beauty in something that others didn’t take the time to see  nor take the time to see it’s potential.  Some times that happens with people too and her post about this piece addresses this. Certainly worth the time to visit and read her beautiful post!

We all have those pieces that draw us in time and time again.  For me it is sideboards!  I love gorgeous antique sideboards!  Vicki from Entri Ways shared her beautiful “old” sideboard ( she had me at “old”) that she brought back to life!  I love the finish she chose for this piece.  She also gives some tips for cleaning hardware that you don’t want to miss!

EntriWays_Blue-Gray-Buffet-Hepplewhite-1a-sqAnd… Just for fun …

Crystal from What Treasures Await gives a shockingly easy tutorial on how to make this sweet sign!  I love this sign and I think I will be making a few to share myself!  Thank you so much for showing us how to achieve this look without a lot of fuss!

Fort MCMurray has been devastated by wild fires as we all have heard.  This has been a horrible week for thousands of people who have had to leave their homes and their lives behind.  If you are at all able to donate something to the Red Cross to help out you would be making an incredible difference in their road to recovery.

This is near and dear to my heart as I am but a few short hours away from there and have seen through the eyes of the water bombing aircraft fighting this fire just how exhausting and devastating it has been for all involved.  My family is an aviation / fire bombing family and my husband oversees the maintenance of the aircraft at Airspray that have dropped load after load of retardant around this fire.  Ground and air crew have been selflessly and tirelessly working to help salvage something from this tragedy.  Please check out their FB page and leave them a kind word of encouragement.  Thank you to all involved in fighting this fire for putting your lives at risk so that we may have ours!

Thank you & Blessings!

  1. What a wonderful surprise to wake up & see my buffet featured in your party this week. Thank you! Looks like Patti from #OldThingsNew and I were thinking along the same lines this week. Her hutch would make a great pair with my buffet. :-)

  7. Thank you so much for the feature of my redeemed hutch Terry! You are a blessing. It is so funny that you mentioned in the comment above that my hutch and Vicky’s buffet would go well together. I have almost the exact same buffet, in the same colors that sits just across the dining room from my hutch! I will have to send V. a picture.
