From Drab to Fab!!!

Happy Sunday everyone!!!  The sun is out and it FINALLY quit snowing!  It has been blizzarding for 2 days straight keeping everyone housebound.  So with the sun out it kinda rejuvenates and energizes me even though it’s cold.  I don’t mind the cold but don’t take away my sunshine!!

So today I’m going to share with you a table and set of 4 chairs that I found in a thrift store for next to nothing!  I was out browsing around looking for a project to do while my husband was away in the summer and came across this…

Lovely orangeish wood…all scratched and dinged up…someone tried to fix it up by giving the chairs new fabric but I think it was a “miss”.

Soooo… I loaded it up in my car…believe it or not with the seats folded down it all fit!  :0)  I love my car!  Raced home, and started to work.  I stripped the varnish off the top and sanded it right down.  Then I gave it a coat of leftover paint I had in the garage from a previous project.  Stained the top and gave it 4 coats of clear varnish.  I did a wash over the edges and the base with a lighter colour of paint and then another wash of stain to get into the nooks and crannies to give it a really neat effect.

So… the chairs were super ugly too…I did the same sort of treatment to the wood on the chairs and upholstered the chairs in Painter’s drop cloths …love this stuff!

I don’t know about you, but I love it when a blog has lots of pictures…more pictures…less talk?    Now, I thought it might be a good table to keep for my own family as the table with the leaf in was actually pretty big.  Unfortunately it only seats six people comfortably…  We need minimum seven spots…but I used if for a while anyways as I liked the look of it.

You’ve probably noticed that the chairs in the picture are not the ones that go with the table…well…like I said before…”sticky” people do not belong on light coloured fabric and because I knew we were not keeping the set I decided it would be nice to keep the integrity of the chairs in tact for the new owners…

I did take a few pics with the leaf out and the matching chairs so I could advertise it for sale as a set…

This sweet little set went to live at the house of the lady I told you earlier bought the wing back chair as well as a few other things while “shopping” my house!  I delivered them to her and you would have thought they were custom for her kitchen!!  I should have taken pictures…who knew I would have started a blog???  LOL!

… I hope you have had a fantastic weekend!

Happy Sunday all!

Take care!

Smiles!

Terry
