Antique Wash Stand

1

January 25, 2014 by Terry

I’ve been super busy lately with painting some furniture pieces, my booth at the Old Creamery has been quite successful this past week and I need to replenish it with some new pieces!

While out and about at some of my favorite places to junk shop I came across an antique wash stand in gorgeous condition!!!  I have been looking for quite some time now for a unique piece to use as our coffee table in our living room.  I needed something that was a bit more narrow and not too heavy or chunky in order to make the space look more spacious….  When I walked by this I immediately thought this would be perfect!

It originally was priced with two metal wash tubs included but I only wanted the stand part, so I asked the owner if they would sell them separate.  I was fortunate that she was willing to separate them and I ended up getting it for a fraction of what they were priced at as a set!  Yeay me again!!  I love the dried greying wood and the slightly rusted hardware…but the fact that it was on metal castors is what really caught my eye!

I could hardly wait to get it home to try it in the space!  It works perfect for what I was wanting…but….only problem is that because it is a stand it doesn’t have a solid top and placing a coffee cup or something else ornamental wouldn’t work.  So for now…until I can come up with something more creative…I have placed a piece of scrap plexi-glass cut to fit on the top of it.  This way I can still enjoy the natural look of the old greying wood and the frame itself.

I also love that it has the brand logo on it still!

So that is my latest “find”… :0)!

I haven’t had time to play around with the placement of it yet but I’m hoping to do that between loads of laundry and coats of paint on other projects on the go!

Hope you are having a great weekend!  I will try to share more projects this week as I go…I’ve kinda been a neglectful blogger lately, sorry!

Take care!

Smiles!
