This Post Brought to You By The Letter “Y”… & A Chippy Door!
11February 20, 2015 by Terry
As always, when I go to my booth at The Old Creamery, I have to put on the blinders or I’m in trouble. There is ALWAYS something that catches my eye there as was the case with this old farmhouse pantry door that stole my heart right away.
I have come to learn that when something that catches my eye makes my heart rate rise… it is meant to be and I might as well just give in right away and purchase it as it will bother me until it is mine.
After trying to resist this door for quite some time … it went on sale and it was over for me in the self control department! ;0)
The chipping layers of paint, the slats on the door running both vertical and horizontal, (very unique!) and the most attractive part to me… it had the original hardware still.
I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do with it yet but I’m sure that will come once I’ve taken the time to play with it a bit.
For now I am using it as a backdrop for our beverage bar… More on that makeover next time, but here’s a sneak peek at it…
What’s up with the “Y”? Well… “Y” not? … I just like it! My husband brought it back with him from a recent trip to Saskatchewan… he found it in an old abandoned farm house along with a few other goodies which I will share with you soon.
Of course I cleaned it up with steel wool and a wire brush before bringing it in. It won’t be touching food or anything so I think my cleaning of it will be sufficient for just being on display.I wonder what it belonged to and what it spelled out.
Well… It looks good with my new chippy door and adds a little visual interest and whimsy!
Loving the hardware on this door…
Oh the chippy goodness of yesteryear!
Chippy paint and aged wood… makes my heart sing!
What makes your heart flutter?
Smiles!
