Antique 3 Tiered Display Table For A Wedding

June 24, 2015 by Terry

Earlier this year I was asked if I would be willing to make over a few pieces of furniture that will be props for an outdoor wedding in August.

I am honoured to have been asked to take on the next few projects that will be part of such an important day in someone’s life.  They will become a piece of someone’s “Story”…

This 3 tiered (what I think may have been a plant stand at one time) display table was originally a dark finish.  It’s finish was flawless.  Very sturdy and pretty as it was, I was asked if I could please paint it and brighten it up so it could be used in the wedding as a dessert stand.  There will be many pastries, cupcakes and dainties for the reception placed on it.

Because the wedding is outdoor country shabby, I gave it 2 coats of MMS Linen Milk Paint and distressed it slightly.  The paint only chipped in a few spots which I think was just perfect for the piece.  I finished it with a touch of antiquing wax and then followed with 2 more coats of clear wax. It is so smooth and looks beautiful!

So romantic …

Great job. It’s really a beautiful piece. I love the detail on the legs and edges. I think after the wedding this would be beautiful in a dressing room or corner of a bedroom to hold jewelry and accessories too.

    • Thank you Becky! I agree, it would be perfect for accessories and displaying them. It could be used in so many areas of a home for many things . I hope you’re having a good day!

  2. The table is beautiful. I can imagine their wedding is going to be so pretty and unique. They’ll be able to enjoy that table for many years to come and have great memories of their wedding day when they look at it.
