The Wing Back Chair

2

November 15, 2013 by Terry

Remember I told you that a lady came by and bought the striped dresser but but continued to shop in my house?  Well, one of the pieces she bought was a winged back chair that I had bought many years ago from a thrift store.  It was an ugly burgundy/purple colour.  I do not have a before picture, sorry!

I had seen so many people use and post about painter’s drop cloths and decided to try it out for myself…   I stripped it down to the bare bones, painted the legs and added castors…then upholstered it in painter’s drop cloth…..

WOW!  I love how it turned out!!!

I made an accent pillow out of the left over fabric.  I had also seen people paint on fabric in some of the blogs I had visited and thought I’d give it a try… I painted some stripes on the pillow and…well…. It turned out great!

I know… there are “leg” prints on the seat cushion…My children thought they’d try out the chair….did I  mention there are five of them????   Yah…first and last time sitting on a light fabric chair!!!  LOL! :0)  I am not a crazy mom… but… when you’ve worked hard on something like this you really don’t want “sticky” people sitting on it..am I right??  :0)

This is my beautiful assistant Rosie…She mostly helps with hugs etc……but she’s always there when I need her!  :0)

Anyhoo…  I have since bought another wingback chair to replace it (future post!!!) and I think I will do the same treatment to it….this one has prettier legs, french legs to be exact!  She will be lovely!  I haven’t had time yet but I intend to start her in the near future.

Have a great weekend all!

Smiles!

Terry
