When Plans Change …

6

October 12, 2014 by Terry

Seven years ago we moved from a beautiful country home into town.  We had custom built a beautiful home 5 years prior on a little acreage.  One day I had an unexpected health event and it changed our life course.  Having 5 little ones under the age of 7, and a husband that worked away, as well as an acreage to care for was just too much for me at the time hence we moved to town.  Even though it was the right choice at the time, we have always longed for the country life.  Well…  the 5 kids under 7 are now 5 under 15 and the time is right to move back to living the country life!

What you are seeing is possibly our future home!  I know the home needs a tonne of work … and 4 more bedrooms … but the potential is huge with this property!

acerage picThis is unexpected change for our family.  The original plan was to purchase a lovely heritage home that we have had our eye on for the last little while.  We were waiting to put an offer on it until my husband came back from working away for the summer season.  It was a gorgeous heritage home that was perfect for our family… move in ready with nothing to fix inside or out!  So what happened to that plan???

yard 4This came along!  For quite some time (years) we have been waiting for a piece of land to come available for us to have our “forever” home on.  We browsed many properties over the years but have never found one that was quite right for our needs.  Not to mention that land around here can be very pricey for what you’re getting.

I hadn’t browsed the local listings for quite some time as the plan was to put an offer on the other home.  The other home was not on an acreage but was beautiful.  To make a long story short, I took a peek at the listings and this popped up!  It was the first property.  Oh my goodness!!!  It was  the perfect sized piece of land for the perfect price!!!  The home isn’t perfect but it will be when we are done with it and …. it comes with a nice sized shop!!!

ShopIt was originally a green house at one time but the current owners have it as a mechanic’s shop.  There are the same number of windows on the other side as well.  This shop will be perfect for my furniture projects as it comes with a paint booth and HUGE air compressor!  It also has infrared heating which means I can even paint in the winter :0) !!!

There is even room enough for a couple horses on this land if we choose.

yard 4yard 2It is close to town and is located on pavement.  The home is extremely outdated but well cared for and clean.  We have plans to gut the entire place and make it a beautiful country bungalow!  I can hardly wait to get started!

yard 3acerage picOne thing is sure, you can count on many decorating and renovation posts mixed in with with my furniture transformations when we move!

Hopefully our current home will sell soon so we can get started on our little dream!

Cross your fingers and say a little prayer that this will happen for us soon!

Smiles!

Terry

  1. Wow! That’s exciting! That shop will be fantastic – you could make it a store front even-and the best part is you will NEVER run out of blog posts! Congrats! Ps I’d love to see a pic of the runner up…

How Nice!! I am a strong believer in “Everything happens for a reason”…sounds like it was just meant to be. My Goodness the land is beautiful!! I’m a country gal and it’s nothing like living in the country! Congratulations. :-)

    • I have been praying for a while now that God will show us what is right for us… that if the historical home isn’t the way to go that He will show me so we can make the right choice for our family. With this property our children won’t have to change schools or make new friends, my husband can keep his job of 21 years and I can do what I love from our home while being there for all of them! :0) God IS Good!!!! :0)!

      Thank you for the visit!

  3. Good luck! That property is absolutely beautiful and looks like it would be a dream come true. This is a dream of ours someday too. Here’s to hoping everything works out the way it should :)
