From Drawers to Doors! … the making of a china cabinet

Since it has been so busy around here lately, I haven’t had time to share the new things I’ve been working on… that WILL happen soon :0) Until then I thought I’d reshare one of my favorite pieces I did for a friend. Sorry for the re-run … be back with fresh posts soon! Smiles!
Back in March I was asked by a lady who works at the antique mall in town, if I would be able to do a custom treatment to a piece of furniture she had been considering purchasing from a vendor there. She saw this lovely piece and wondered if the drawers could be converted to shelving and doors. She was wanting to use it to store her china and wine glasses. I told her it shouldn’t be too difficult to do…so she bought it, and I took it home to start planning my attack on it!! :0)
The inside was in need of a few alterations so I started by removing the drawer tracks..sort of difficult to do without making marks on the wood…
Next came filling in the holes with wood filler and sanding followed by the first coat of chalk paint on the outside. I used the color…
