It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas …

Yesterday I took some time to step back from the daily busy and do a little decorating for Christmas. Time goes by so fast anymore! I can’t believe it is already the first week of December!
I don’t like to go crazy wild with over the top decorating. Sometimes I feel that too much can become tacky and busy. My children on the other hand would like it to look like “Christmas threw up” in our house … My daughter’s words exactly :0) Well… that’s not going to happen… at least not in the way she would like.
I think this year we will try to go with more of a “natural” theme. More greenery (real if possible) and minimal ornaments. That’s not to say I won’t be using ornaments but I just won’t be putting out things like the frosted glass snowman or the wobbly Santa with spring legs. It’s nice to change things up a bit each year!
Believe it or not this small wreath is from the dollar store. I was quite surprised to find these there the other day. I picked up three of them to put in my living room windows … they look pretty nice for dollar store wreaths :0)
The wide ribbon used to hang them is also from the dollar store… these three wreaths with ribbon cost a total of $10.00! Sweet!
I also used the little tree that I picked up at my favorite thrift store. I like that it looks real. I decided not to put ornaments on it and keep it minimal and natural looking, plus, the red tin pot gives it that Christmas feel…Since our kitchen / dining room is open to the living room I continued with the wreath theme in the large window there. Since the berries are red in the small wreaths and the tree pot is red, I thought my large wreath made of red poinsettias might look pretty…
I like how it looks on my antique window …
Last year I had it hanging over my sideboard…
How the house has changed since last year. This sideboard is no longer in the dining room and I don’t have that throw rug any more either…
That’s all I’ve done so far on this level of our house. I did get the tree put up in our family room with the fireplace. It looks so pretty in there. I’ll share that with you tomorrow :0)
Smiles!
Terry
