Decorating The Tree …

2

December 4, 2014 by Terry

So the tree is up!  I absolutely love having a tree in the house, I wish it could be that way all year long! … well, it could but that would be a little wierd.

While the living room decorations are accented with reds, the family room and tree are decorated with silver, blue and white accents.

I didn’t go crazy with ornaments on the tree.  I tried to keep it minimal to let the greenery show through and also to be able to focus on the detail of the bulbs and crystals.  Sometimes the eye doesn’t know where to rest if it’s too busy.  While I love a full tree, I kept things simple this year.

(click here to view what a very full tree looks like.  This one was done for someone else and is also beautiful)

DSCN3848I kept the colors to just the silver, blue and white … and I couldn’t help but add in a little chocolate, I have a handful of antique looking chocolate ornaments with silver glitter designs on them.  There’s bells, balls, birds, icicles and crystals… I also added some white poinsettia blooms where I would have normally added bows.

The tree skirt is silver with honeycomb smocking, fringe and velvet large buttons.  I’m finding it difficult to keep it on straight as “somebody” keeps playing in the tree! ….Hmmmm

It’s so hard to find good help!  … following this picture she was forced to take a looooong coffee break in the laundry room!  Ha!

A couple of Christmases ago I made a Christmas ball chandelier out of ribbon and dollar store ornaments.  I think it looks pretty hanging in the corner by the fireplace and ties in with my blue mercury glass ornament on the mantle.

DSCN3852DSCN3850So pretty is the holiday season!  How one decorates is so personal, there is no right or wrong as long as YOU enjoy the environment you are creating with the decorations you add to it.

I love this! The colors are soft and elegant. It does not look simple at all, but I understand what you mean. I also chose silver and white to decorate my dining room this year. The tree and tree skirt are beautiful. I’ll have to put that tree skirt on next years decorating list. Lovely post.
