Thrifted Dinnerware Collection

9A beautifully set table doesn’t have to cost a fortune!

After coming across a few pretty plates that were simply embossed and white, I decided that I would start my own mismatched collection of dinnerware.

9The pieces don’t necessarily need to be from the same set.  My only rules for my collection are that they need to be white or cream, they must be pretty and simple ( no colored print)  and there must be at least 2 of it if it is a dish, bowl or cup.

Every time I enter a thrift store or yard sale I head straight to the kitchen section to see if there is anything that is unusual that catches my eye or maybe a piece that matches some of the pieces I already have.

I have had a bit of luck lately picking up pieces to a set of ironstone dishes and bowls.  Believe it or not I only paid $2.50 for all of the dishes and bowls in the photo above.  There was a 50% off all kitchen items sale at the thrift store where I found them.

My entire collection seen here probably has cost me around $40.00 so far.  Including the tureen!

345The flatware I found in a little vintage shop and the patina and unique shape caught my eye.  I did splurge and spend $4.00 for the pair.

2The tureen and it’s cracked and stained finish also caught my eye.  It is shallow and adds a pop of color the the table.

1I have actually collected quite a bit in the short time since I began.

11I am always keeping an eye out for pretty little gravy boats and pitchers as well.

Not only do they look nice but they can also be used for everyday.

7Thank you to all of you who commented on whether or not I should take the leap and start my own weekly furniture linky party.  Your support has been really encouraging.  I have been wanting to grow a little more and I think this is the perfect opportunity to do so!

The saying is true … when one door closes, another is opened :0)

As I am not a super “techy” person, it may take me a bit to figure out all the details of my party but hopefully it will be up and running soon!

One more thing . . .  any suggestions for the linky party name would be helpful!  I would appreciate your ideas and thoughts!

Smiles!
